R: RESPONSE

Check the casualty's response: SHAKE AND SHOUT

A: AIRWAY

Turn Casualty on side and clear Airway

N.B. CAUTION IF SUSPECTED SPINAL INJURY

B: BREATHING

Open mouth, tilt head back, extend jaw and listen for breathing.

IF NOT BREATHING: COMMENCE MOUTH-TO-MOUTH

5 BREATHS IN 10 SECONDS

C: CIRCULATION

Check for pulse at neck or wrist

IF NO PULSE: COMMENCE CARDIAC MASSAGE

15 COMPRESSIONS EACH 10 SECONDS
THEN 2 BREATHS IN 5 SECONDS

REPEAT COMPRESSIONS

REPEAT BREATHS

etc

ONCE RECOVERED, PLACE ON LEFT SIDE AND CALL AMBULANCE

NEVER GIVE UP
