Electrolysis and Unwanted Hair | |
Electrolysis is a process by which a small wire is carefully inserted into each minute hair follicle and the root of the hair is destroyed by the passage of an electric current. It is used for the permanent removal of unsightly hairs particularly on the face. Unfortunately it can sometimes leave fine little pits particularly if performed by an unskilled operator. The hairs can also regrow if the root is not completely destroyed. It can be a long tedious process considering the hundreds of hairs on the upper lip alone. Only a limited number of hairs an be removed with each treatment and to avoid severe inflammation, adjacent hairs should not be treated at any single time. In a severe case, complete removal of unsightly hairs may take years and will require a firm enthusiasm on the part of both patient and operator. If it is your intention to embark on a course of electrolysis, you should consult your doctor for advice and for referral to a professionally trained and skilled operator. |
